Prof. Howard Fergus’ book is the first comprehensive study
of the works of poet Lasana M. Sekou, and one wonders why it has
taken so long for such a critical analysis of one of the most
innovative and refreshingly strong lyrical voices of the Caribbean
to emerge. Prof. Fergus throws wide ajar the doors to enter into
Sekou’s poetics with authority and anticipation.
