St. Martin books for Sandy Ground children’s center

MARIGOT —Julien “Bajan” Richardson (L) received a contribution of books from House of Nehesi Publishers (HNP) at the opening of the Sandy Ground Learning Center (6/4/07). The presentation by HNP’s projects director Lasana M. Sekou (R) was made as part of the St. Martin Book Fair promotion and HNP’s reading/writing program. Richardson, a principal of the Sandy Ground Association (ASG), is a known community organizer. The ASG team secured funding for the community library/multimedia center from the Regional Council of Guadeloupe through the work of Regional Councilor for St. Martin Lulu Mussington. Attending the Learning Center opening were about 15 neighborhood children -- ranging in age from 3 to 15 -- ASG members, teachers, and Councilor Mussington. (CLF photo)
